Lanie is from Northern Michigan and is currently living in Southeast Alaska. She is married and you may see her name written as 'Lanie Barsy' at times.

Lanie lives and creates on the traditional lands of the Tlingit people, and she wishes to respectfully acknowledge and honor the A’akw Kwáan and T’aaku Kwáan, the Indigenous people of this land. For more than 10,000 years, Alaska Native people have been and continue to be integral to the well-being of our community. She is grateful to be part of this community, and to honor the culture, tradition and resilience of the Tlingit people. Gunalchéesh.
